Suzhou BioX Industrial Institute and Inspur Group has launched a Chinese AI supercomputer platform for genetic diseases.

The launch of Chinese AI Supercomputer Platform for Genetic Diseases in Jin Ji Lake Road-show Centre of Biobay was a great success. Suzhou BioX Industrial Institute partnered with Inspur Group in the development of this platform, which can provide AI-based decision of genetic diseases to enhance clinical diagnosis and treatment. At the meeting, speeches were delivered by He Lin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sun Yezhi, Vice President of Inspur Group and Ji Jiqiang, Deputy Director of S&T and Information Bureau of Suzhou Industrial Park Administration Committee.


 

According to He Lin, AI has gained society’s attention courtesy of a better world and improved technology. In future, the role of AI in hereditary consulting service is expected to gain prominence based on AI’s big advantage in memory. Learning and operating rate and genetic detection is a massive endeavor that consumes material resources to analyze. When combined with hereditary consulting service, AI promises to be a competent assistant to the medical staff.


Sun Yezhi, Vice President of Inspur Group, said that he was pleased to participate in the joint successful signing ceremony with Suzhou BioX Industrial Institute of Chinese AI supercomputer platform for genetic diseases. Inspur, an Internet company renowned in cloud computing, big data and AI, is ranked first in data processing in China and among the top three globally. The cooperation between Inspur and BioX aims at promoting big data cloud computing and gene sequencing to benefit the society.


The deputy director of S&T and Information Bureau of Suzhou Industrial Park Administration Committee, Ji Jiqiang, congratulated BioX Industrial Institute for the launch of this project and warmly welcomed the experts present. He later introduced emerging industries in Suzhou Industrial Park, including biomedicine and AI. He noted that the park will promote sustainable development of the platform and that of BioX Industrial Institute in accordance with the park’s culture. Besides, BioX Industrial Institute will definitely be the park’s representative.


At the launching ceremony, BioX Industrial Park and Inspur Group officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly build a globally advanced platform for genetic diseases, which is based on AI, big data, better computing performance and algorithm. The two will cooperate in following fields:

1.Build up a joint super-computing R&D team 

2.Establish a system for strategic deployment

3.Jointly develop final products and services

4.Ensure every marketing channel is focused on product promotion

About 900,000 children born annually in China have physical defects and about 80% of these diseases are associated with genetic factors. Following the integration of AI and big data on hereditary diseases, the platform will be a breakthrough for “new medicine” in clinical prevention and treatment and a smart service platform for the pharmaceutical and genetic industry. The twin goals aim at partnering with and complementing each other to take the lead in cutting-edge technologies, including big data of hereditary diseases, AI and algorithm and most importantly, promote the development of China’s genetic industry using AI.
